Our Standard of Operation Procedure

Thank you for your interest in becoming a client of NMPA Experts (PTY) LTD. It is our operational procedure document. Please read it and make sure you understand the scope of our practice. Please contact the undersigned immediately if you do not understand, or wish to discuss, any aspect of the terms of the company operations.
1. Purpose and Scope
The engagement of NMPA Experts is to provide Client Attorney with the following services - Medico-Legal Services: Consultation; Assessment of Claimants; Study and organize documents, Compilation & Submission of Reports Affidavits & Court Appearance where required Joint Minutes & Addendum reports where required
2. Our services
We do medico-legal assessments and reports for:
• Road Accident Fund (RAF) claims;
• Mine accidents; • Train accidents;
• Work-related / Personal injury claims;
• Medical negligence claims; and
• State liabilities claims e.g minister of police
3. Responsibilities
NMPA Experts will ensure that the reports are provided in accordance with agreed timeframe as set out in our terms and conditions below, and to a professional standard. Client Attorney is required to arrange for reasonable access by us to relevant individuals and commits to provide necessary information and documentation to enable the timeous completion of reports.
4. Terms and Conditions
4.1 Turnaround time Client Attorney is required to arrange for reasonable access by us to relevant individuals and documents, and shall be responsible for both the completeness and accuracy of the information supplied to us. Turnaround time for submission of reports will be 8 to 10 days upon receipt of full payment and upon receipt of all relevant documentation and/ or other expert reports.
4.2 Making Bookings/Appointment Appointment should be made prior assessment date. Instructions will be accepted at least 3 days before the actual assessment date. Primary documents required when making appointment:
• Instruction letter
• Medical Records
• RAF 1
• Claimant ID copy
When drafting instruction letter also include:
Full names of the claimant,
ID Number and Date of accident in question.
For claimant who is: Elderly, Minor or Mentally challenged, they should be accompanied by family member to assist them during the interviews/evaluation. The representative attorney or the messenger is not allowed to be in the assessment room assisting the claimant with experts’ evaluation responses.
Note:
• No walk in will be seen by the experts for Medico-legal assessment
• No claimant will be seen without medical records
• No person drunk person will be seen for assessments by experts
• A child under 18 years must will not be been without parent/guardian
• Mentally vulnerable client will not be seen without a family member/caregiver
• Our elders and wheelchair bound clients do not wait on the que.
4.3 Supporting Appendices (attached)
• Assessment annual schedule of the year 2023
• List of panel experts and rates
• List of documents required for report completion as per appointed expert
• Assessment booking intake form
4.4 Professional Fees and conditions It should be noted that in all matters we do not work on a contingency basis. 100% Payment is required before release of reports.
• Assessment consultation fare is R 2000.00 which will be credited when making settlement for the report. • Invoice will be sent to the attorneys on report request.
• It the duty of the Client attorneys to read the terms and conditions for the invoice and any other communication sent.
• Primary experts’ (Surgeons) reports should be settled with the period of 06 months after assessments. The other experts must be settled within the period 12 months after assessments.
• For urgent reports, the client attorney is expected to have fully paid for the report on assessment date.
• In the case when experts must travel on attorneys’ request for onsite assessments, 50% deposit should be made at least 7 days before actual assessment date.
